Success in Miami

The Daily Business Reviews in South Florida have been among our most successful publications over the past two years. It's tempting to assume that that financial success arises simply from their public notice franchise.   Tempting, but wrong.  In reality, even given the economic difficulties in that part of the country, Chris Mobley and the staff at the DBR are seeing great success in Display and Law Firm sales, and more than holding their own in meeting their Classified objectives.  Why?

1.  The DBR is investing in editorial content and design.  Chris and his team recently completed a redesign of the entire newspaper, based on a recognition that in a web-centric world, print design needs to reflect the online experience.  That includes an improved backpage and additional use of color.  And that color back page is what attracted one new advertiser, a bank, to sign up for a lengthy schedule of strip ads adjacent to the regular DealMakers column. That's a deal we can all appreciate!

2.  Marketers are looking for creative approaches that help them with business development.  And so the DBR--like many of our other publications--is also selling custom events, leveraging its brand power in South Florida on behalf of local marketers.  In this case, a local law firm became the first to sponsor a custom event.  Hopefully, that will be the first law firm among many more to follow.

Congratulations to Chris and team for investing where it will have the biggest impact on readers and advertisers, and for their creativity in meeting the needs of our marketing partners.
