Core Values Award Winners

I am pleased to announce the latest list of those being recognized for their commitment to Incisive Media's Core Values. As you'll recall, these awards are given through the year to those who, through their actions, consistently demonstrate the values that define us as an organization: Quality, Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation and Trust. As I think you'll see from the descriptions below, the seven members of our staff being recognized in this round of Core Values Awards are truly deserving of our thanks and respect.

The winners are:

Sean Doherty, Technology Editor, Law.com, San Francisco

Sean demonstrated our Core Values recently by going above and beyond what was expected of him and taking on responsibility for a new daily newsletter product. The newsletter, called the Law Technology News Daily Alert, has replaced Law.com’s weekly Legal Technology Bulletin and LTN magazine’s monthly newsletter. Sean was a leader in the newsletter’s design and development, ensuring that it included a variety of interesting material from all over the Web while achieving an important goal of creating more advertising inventory within Law.com’s popular technology areas.

Jason Doiy, Photo Editor, The Recorder, San Francisco

Jason has exemplified the Core Values of innovation, teamwork and quality in the newsroom by consistently raising the bar on visual presentations. A recent example is a slideshow that he worked on that covered a charity haircut event put on by local lawyers. His ideas were key to the team as they planned and shaped the project. The time he devoted over a five week period, working between his regular responsibilities, was substantial; and his technical execution, as well as his attention to detail was flawless. His dedication is evident in his preparation for filming where he has even brought in his own backdrops from home to use for photo shoots.

Tim Gotimer, Senior Financial Analyst, Finance Department, New York

Since being hired last year Tim has been a key player in making reporting processes more efficient. He has an expert level of Excel knowledge that enables him to map data efficiently between various systems. Tim took on an important standard report and created a robust analysis for company executive management to use, and his assistance with the development of the Profit and Loss statement has helped to create an even more efficient report. In addition, Tim is a great team player who has worked hard at building relationships both within and outside of his department. His hard work and relationship skills truly demonstrate all of the Core Values.

Safia Maharaj, Assistant Editor, Law Technology News, New York

Safia has been the true definition of a team player. She demonstrates commitment and dedication far beyond the call of duty. Safia’s original duties were to serve as administrative assistant. As LTN began to shift to more digital efforts, Safia stepped up and began to assume editorial duties, helping write more of the products/services/vendor news sections. Safia self-taught herself and grew her skills to the point that she can decipher the most difficult product press releases that are packed with brain-numbing jargon. She thoroughly demonstrates the core values via her constant dedication and commitment to LTN and how she executes her duties with respect, finesse and humor, and her keen ability to work successfully with other divisions of the company.

Anna Romanovich, Product Manager, Licensing and Research, New York

Anna received two Core Value nominations for demonstrating teamwork, quality and innovation to improve efficiency. She has taken the Core Value of teamwork to another level by creating a business solution for another department. She recently overheard a coworker in another department (The Digital Group) say that they needed an Excel solution to a problem. The problem had to do with appending URLs in a more efficient manner; since appended URLS are needed to communicate with the web analytics platform. Anna, being an accomplished Excel user, immediately said that she could help. She developed an innovative solution for the appended URLs within one day. In addition she developed a procedures manual for the temps that work in her own department.

John Schneider, Associate Editor, Verdict Search, Houston

John consistently demonstrates the core values of integrity, teamwork and quality. He is the sole Verdict Search Reporter in Texas. His knowledge of the Texas legal system is extensive and his ability to decipher complex legal issues and present them in easy-to-understand, well-written reports is impressive. He goes above and beyond what is expected of him when it comes to taking the time to go to courthouses and contact attorneys in his area. In addition John is a prime example of a team player. He stays in touch with editors and other reporters through frequent phone calls and e-mails. John was especially helpful last summer and early fall when hurricanes ravaged the southeastern region of Texas. He continued to work from home throughout the storm, despite the distraction of the weather and a house full of family members who stayed with him because they had been evacuated from their own homes. John kept us up-to-date on courthouse closings (information that wasn’t easy for us to find during that time) and managed to stay in contact with attorneys. Because of John’s tireless work, we were still able to put out the full, high-quality issues that our readers have come to expect. John has shown time and again his commitment to the company’s core values.

Robert Ziskin, Applications Administrator, IT, New York

Robert is responsible for 2nd and 3rd level support of some of the company’s most important systems, including the general ledger and payroll systems. He consistently demonstrates the core values by being “devoted to the cause” in solving support issues. For instance when the GL was not balancing he systematically went through all of the coding to determine the source of the problem and implement a fix. Also, when he recently found out that a new training session did not include printed training manuals he took the time out to print and bind these manuals himself rather than use a vendor. Robert has a thorough knowledge of all our systems and always comes through on expectations and deliverables.

Again, congratulations to all seven of our Core Values Award winners.

Thank you, Bill. The Law Technology News Daily Alert would not have been possible without the help of Sherry Lee, Amy Dewey and the rest of the development team in San Francisco. So I would like to thank them as well as the Law.com editorial team, Monica Bay and Shane Deleers, who have all made the Alert a valuable addition to our product line.
